No compromise has been made in recording the sound of the instruments themselves. The DTX PRO sounds have been fine-tuned to naturally follow the drummer’s performance and allow for maximum expression.
Yamaha, also a manufacturer of acoustic drums, is dedicated to creating realistic drum sounds that stand out in a song to make it more enjoyable to play. The sound in the DTX-PRO consists of sounds recorded in world-renowned studios and with the support of renowned recording engineers. The sound of Yamaha`s iconic Recording Custom kit has been captured and tuned to stand out not just when playing electronic drums on their own, but also when played with a band or mixed with songs.
Performances by leading Yamaha drums artists were recorded and mixed by a team of recording engineers to give the final instrument samples. The project sound director, an electronic musical instrument development professional, specified exacting recording techniques to capture the full detailed sound of each drum and cymbal, from the initial attack, until the very end of the natural sound.
The drum pads, the drummer’s interface with their instrument, have been carefully matched to the DTX-PRO Module to offer excellent expressive capabilities.

The KIT MODIFIER knobs featured on the DTX-PRO offers drummers limitless possibilities for their creativity.
In order to allow drummers to enjoy the sound make-up of the kit, Yamaha has condensed the know-how gained over many years of experience into the KIT MODIFIER, which consists of three knobs - AMBIENCE, COMP and EFFECT.
The AMBIENCE knob on the KIT MODIFIER controls the natural ambience and reverb of the drum sound. For acoustic drum kits, the knob 0-50% applies authentic ambience components from the recording studio, while 51-100% applies high-quality digital reverb.
The COMP knob provides a compression effect that aligns the grain of the sound and brings it to the fore, while the EFFECT controls an effect optimised for the preset kit.
In some of the latest DTX-PRO firmware V2 kits, the Effect knob can now be used to adjust even realistic resonances and noises, such as shell resonances and snare wire sounds (Bleed function).

The DTX6 series lets drummers choose between two head materials according to their personal preference, for optimum response when playing.
Yamaha TCS (Textured Cellular Silicone) heads feature a unique internal structure that provides a realistic response with realistic hardness and rebound, as well as a treated surface that prevents stick sliding. The result is a natural drum feel that encourages you to keep playing.
The snare and toms boast a feel very close to their respective acoustic counterparts. Their surfaces will never loosen, no matter how many times they are hit, maintaining the best possible feel at all times.
The mesh pads use two-ply heads made by Remo. They boast outstanding noise reduction, durability, and feel when hit, as well as a great rebound, making them superbly comfortable to play. The heads can be tuned to suit your personal preferences.
Detailed reproduction of the drummer's performance
The DTX6 series uses 3-zone pads for snare, crash*, and ride. The snare offers the main articulations - head, closed rim, and open rim - and the cymbals offer edge, bow, and cup triggering. In addition, the cymbal pads can be choked or muted by grabbing the edge. This allows for a variety of performance techniques and lets drummers comfortably practice their accuracy.

A more musical ride
The ride cymbal also offers positional sensing. This means the sound changes depending on where the cymbal is played. This feature is possible thanks to the high-definition long sampling of the cymbal sounds featured in the DTX-PRO sound module. It is perfect for accurately reproducing delicate cymbal work.
A kick that just makes you want to play more
The KP90 Kick Pad features Yamaha's unique multi-layer cushion structure that offers the perfect feel with unparalleled comfort, regardless of the strength of the stroke. The 7.5-inch pad is also suitable for use with double bass drum pedals and has a wide stance with large anti-slip spurs, and carpet grabbing mechanism, ensuring a stable playing surface that stays in place.
Set it and forget it
The newly designed RS6 rack system* gives you the freedom to set up as needed with a robust rack that you can set and forget. The left part of the rack is open so that the hi-hat stand and a double pedal can be set freely, allowing stress-free performance. The acoustic-look L-shaped legs further improve stability and strength.

Everything a drummer needs
The DTX-PRO module comes fully equipped to communicate with other technology and the outside world. The USB can send and receive MIDI data, and also send and receive audio data when connected directly to a computer or smart device. The unit also comes with a MIDI OUT socket, allowing you to send MIDI data to connected devices. Up to 14 pads or drum triggers can be connected to the trigger inputs on the module, making it simple to create a hybrid setup with a mix of acoustic and electronic drums.
An App that makes recording, editing, and sharing easy
The DTX-PRO is compatible with the Rec’n’Share iOS/Android App so you can easily record/ video a performance on your device that is combined with the audio data from the module. You can then edit the recorded video, and share it on social media. When you load tracks into the App, you can add clicks, time stretch, A-B repeat and edit your video and audio right from the drum throne.
