Auditorium Merate Is Safe (And) Sound With Yamaha
Thanks to its cost-effectiveness, one of the many advantages of digital audio is how regional venues can nowadays install the same sound technology as the biggest and best concert halls. Inspired by Milan’s iconic Teatro Alla Scala, a new multi-purpose venue in the Italian city of Merate is enjoying all the benefits of a Yamaha audio system.
Funded by the city’s administration, Auditorium Merate is a major new-build part of a project to transform former municipal buildings into community facilities. It was officially opened in December by the city’s mayor, Andrea Robbiani, who wanted a state-of-the-art audio system to match the venue’s high quality acoustics.
“Yamaha solutions are appreciated by, and have been a great success in, major Italian theatres like La Scala in Milan. So we knew from the beginning that Yamaha would be both a safe and high quality choice,” says the project’s technical consultant Fulvio Giovannelli.
The system comprises an LS9-16 digital mixing console, fitted with an MY16-AUD Dante interface, and a Rio1608-D i/o unit. The PA comprises two flown Yamaha DSR215 and two flown DSR115 active, full-range loudspeakers, complemented by a pair of floor-mounted DXS15 subs, hidden under the stage.
Four powered DXR12 loudspeakers are installed for stage monitoring, plus a pair of HS5 nearfield stage monitors in the venue’s control room.
The project was managed by contractor BMS Impianti, who co-ordinated the installation from the drafting of the technical requirements through to final system testing.
“The system has exceeded all expectations, both we and the client are very happy to have chosen Yamaha,” says BMS Impianti manager Marco Brivio.
"We often install Yamaha systems, which we find are a winning choice for many reasons. Not least of these is the excellent technical support, which is crucial in the testing process and for the system’s inauguration," adds Eugenio Magni of system installer Wide Media Engineering.
