CL Version 1.7 Coming Soon – Built On Response From Our Users

November 12, 2013, Shizuoka, Japan – The CL Series digital mixing consoles, the new industry standard, will soon be updated to Version 1.7. The new version will include numerous new features that have been implemented in response to feedback from users around the world.

The underlying CL series concept of “The standards stay, but innovation never ends” remains the backbone of industry standard CL Series digital mixing console operability, while numerous enhancements take the entire system to a new level of refinement. Premium Rack features have evolved for even better sound, the User Defined Knobs offer improved control, and advanced Dante network audio and Nuendo Live recording are fully supported. CL Series Version 1.7 defines a new generation of digital mixing consoles.

Version 1.5, released in March of this year, introduced Scene Preview as well as discovery and patching for NEXO NXAMP power amplifiers. Then in July, Version 1.6 added discovery and patching for Shure ULX-D digital wireless systems.

In Version 1.7 feedback from CL users worldwide has resulted in significantly enhanced efficiency and versatility. The improvements will be particularly valuable in managing the complex demands of festivals and similar events. CL Version 1.7 is scheduled to be released via the Yamaha Pro Audio website by the end of the year.

Some of the most important new features introduced with Version 1.7 are described below.

Selective Load/Save

Selective Load/Save

CL Series setup data (scene memory, libraries, etc.) can now be individually loaded from or saved to USB memory. This provides an efficient way to load complex setup data for individual acts at festivals and similar events.

HA option for input patching

When changing input patches it is now possible to select whether you want to use the HA settings from the patched port as is, or copy the channel HA settings to the patched port. This makes it easy to quickly change input patches in hectic working environments without having to copy HA settings.

New Sends On Fader functions

In the Sends On fader mode the assignable encoders (Gain/Pan/Assign knobs) can now be used to adjust channel level and panning for sends to stereo buses.

Custom fader bank scene storage

Custom fader bank setups can now be stored to and recalled from individual scenes. At busy events that involve multiple engineers this can make it easy to change custom fader bank settings without having to switch users.

DCA mute option for Pre sends

Improved I/O device detection

I/O devices added to the Dante audio network are now properly detected and identified using their device types.

In the words of PA department manager Mr. Chihaya Hirai: “Not just the CL Series, but all digital products that are based on software can continue to evolve through version updates after they have been released. But updates should not be a one-sided effort by the manufacturer. They should implement ideas and advice from users as well. Communication with our users is essential, and has been the driving force behind the development of CL Version 1.7. We intend to remain open to valuable feedback from our users in order to provide products that are ideally tailored to real-world working environments.”
