Yamaha Stand And Delivers At IBC2013
Yamaha will enjoy a high profile at this year’s International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, with its recently launched Nuage audio post-production system guaranteed to attract a lot of attention. In addition, for the second year running, Yamaha equipment will be used to deliver many of the event’s seminars and presentations.
Taking centre stage on the Yamaha stand D10 in Hall 8, Nuage is a truly integrated production solution. Combining dedicated Yamaha control and interface hardware with Steinberg’s Nuendo 6 DAW software, Nuage is a purpose-built system that offers unprecedented creativity, flexibility and audio quality. By marrying cutting edge technology from two of the audio industry’s biggest hitters, Nuage redefines what is possible in audio post-production, seamlessly uniting production processes that require a multitude of devices, connections and interfaces in traditional systems.
Further broadcast-related audio products being presented by Yamaha staff include the CL Series mixing consoles, R-series i/o units and CL Editor software; DUGAN-MY16 auto mic mixing card; HS series studio monitors; StageMix Version 4 iPad app and Steinberg’s Nuendo Live multitrack recording software.
Yamaha equipment also will be used to deliver significant parts of the IBC Conference. Audio infrastructure for the Conference is handled by Terry Nelson and Sean O’Dea, who once again have chosen Yamaha equipment following the success of last year’s events.
Central to the IBC Conference is the Forum, where a Yamaha CL1 digital mixing console will deliver the highest profile seminars. These include the Keynote presentations, delivered by a specially-invited, international line-up of high-profile speakers. In Room E102 a Yamaha CL5 will be complemented by a Yamaha DXS series 5.1 playback system and DXR12s; Room G102 will feature another CL1 console, while the Big Screen Auditorium will utilise DXR8s as active stage monitors.
All three CL series systems will use R-series i/o units and mini-YGDAI interface cards, including the DUGAN-MY16 which will be making the lives of mix engineers easier during multi-participant debates. Additional audio processing will be done by Yamaha DME digital mixing engines.
“Last year’s systems were a total success, we were so happy with the way the Yamaha equipment performed that there was no other choice in my mind,” says Terry. “The hands-on support from the company’s staff was second-to-none and we look forward to working closely with Yamaha again this year.”
Taking place at the RAI Amsterdam, the IBC Conference runs from 12th - 17th September, with the exhibition from 13th - 17th.
