Yamaha CL5s Deliver Serious Sound For Orbital’s Pantomime Season

The 2012/2013 pantomime season set new records for leading rental company Orbital Sound with nearly 30 shows playing simultaneously around the UK during December and January. Key to this success was the company’s inventory of five Yamaha CL5 digital mixing consoles which, despite the relentless schedule of matinees and evening performances, delivered high quality sound without a single hitch.

Orbital’s clients include Qdos Entertainment and First Family Entertainment, two of the world’s leading pantomime producers, with the schedule taking in some of the highest profile theatres in UK cities, including the 2,500 seat Bristol Hippodrome, Liverpool Empire, Nottingham Theatre Royal and the Birmingham Hippodrome.

Qdos estimates that its shows alone has attracted audiences of over 1.5m during the 2012/2013 season, highlighting the economic importance of festive box office revenues.

“This has been an outstanding season, with the top pantomimes bucking the economic trend and performing strongly in box office terms,” says Orbital Managing Director Chris Headlam. “Clients depend on Orbital to provide a total sound solution and dependability is very much the key. This is why the Yamaha CL5 console is at the heart of our rental sound systems for the panto season. It is easy to use and does exactly what it says on the tin, day after day. It really is a powerful workhorse and is proving the validity of our investment.

“We are working with some extremely big name stars and our clients demand the very best, so the emphasis is on providing top quality sound every night. The Yamaha CL5s have been vital to delivering that and the overall success of the season.”
