NEXO NXAMP Discovery & Patching from CL Consoles via Dante

November 13, 2012, Shizuoka, Japan – As of January 2013, CL series digital mixing consoles and NEXO powered TD controllers equipped with NXDT104 Dante network cards will offer a new level of integration and control.

The NEXO company was established in Paris, France in 1979 to manufacture and market high performance speaker systems. With their outstanding reproduction quality, high-output NEXO commercial systems soon became standards in distinguished halls, arenas, and theaters around the world. Yamaha and NEXO entered into a partnership in June of 2005, and then in July of 2008 NEXO became a member of the Yamaha group. The NXAMP Powered TD Controller was jointly developed by engineers from both companies.

Yamaha and NEXO also combined their engineering expertise to develop the NXDT104 Dante network card released this March, achieving Dante network protocol compatibility for CL series mixing consoles and the NXAMP. This innovation made it possible for CL consoles to communicate with the NXAMP via Dante.

Now the Yamaha group is working towards even deeper integration that allows NXAMP discovery and patching operations, currently requiring a computer running the Dante Controller software application, to be carried out directly from the touch screen displays of CL series consoles. That functionality will become available with CL series firmware update V1.5, to be released in January of 2013.

This heightened integration goes beyond providing Dante communication from system input to output, delivering enhanced control and operability as well. According to Yoshi Tsugawa, CEO of NEXO, “We intend to take all operations and processes that are troublesome, time consuming, complex, or uncertain, and make them fast, easy, assured, and safe. That’s the value we’re aiming for in all Yamaha + NEXO systems, and this development marks another step in that direction. By being keenly aware of our customers’ needs and deepening our technical cooperation, Yamaha + NEXO are determined to offer important innovations and increased advantages into the future.”

Kazunori Kobayashi, general manager of the Yamaha Corporation pro audio division, adds: “Since the formation of our partnership in 2005, Yamaha and NEXO have cooperated closely in the field of amplifier and speaker product development. This new solution provides a software connection between products that were previously separate, giving our customers a more comfortable, more efficient working environment. The Yamaha + NEXO advantage goes way beyond hardware, to new levels of system integration and quality.”

Looking forward, both companies will continue to cooperate in developing and delivering significant system solutions with understanding and value that can only come from the Yamaha group.
