Introducing Yamaha's comprehensive lineup of commercial installation products
June 13, 2012, Shizuoka, Japan- Yamaha is very pleased to launch a new lineup of dedicated installed sound products at Infocomm 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada. With a focus on small to mid-size applications such as retail stores, banquet halls, restaurants and more, these products mark Yamaha's entry into the commercial installation market as a system solution provider. The products will be shipped from this autumn.
Yamaha has a proven track record in offering innovative audio products across a range of genres, providing industry-leading AV products for the consumer market, and trusted, top-level professional equipment for use in live sound, broadcast and recording applications. Built on this same spirit of innovation and dedication to sound quality, this new lineup promises to benefit everyone involved in the installation process, offering values and technologies based on our extensive digital and networking experience, and a fresh, inventive approach to designing commercial installed sound systems.
The lineup consists of MTX Series matrix processors with accompanying MTX Editor software, XMV Series multi-channel power amplifiers, VXS Series surface mount speakers, VXC Series ceiling speakers, as well as many peripherals that support these products—providing necessary components from the input to the output stages to create sound solutions for various applications. Each of the products offers its own individual advantages and benefits, however using them in combination will simultaneously maximize their performance while simplifying system design, since the entire lineup was developed around the same core concepts.
Here are some examples of the benefits offered by this product lineup:
- Intelligent Matrix Processing
- Programmable features designed specifically for commercial installed sound
- Multi-zone capability
- New YDIF audio transmission format from Yamaha
- Fast and easy connection using only standard Ethernet cable
- System configuration software MTX Editor
- MTX Editor can set parameters for MTX processors as well as EXio expanders and XMV Series power amplifiers
- High/Low impedance switchable amplifiers and speakers
- Pre-installed library of optimized speaker settings
- MTX Series matrix processors feature easily recalled speaker processing settings that improve the performance of specific Yamaha commercial installation speakers

“As a developer of both professional audio equipment and musical instruments, it is our mission at Yamaha to deliver the best sound quality to every environment where people enjoy music” says Kazunori Kobayashi, General Manager of Yamaha's Pro Audio Division. “The commercial installation market is fairly new to us, and we believe it is a very important market because it gives us the opportunity to reach more customers with sound and music. Just as we have brought new values to the sound reinforcement and larger installation markets, we look forward to providing commercial installed sound customers with state-of-the-art technologies and a fresh approach to designing their sound systems.”
Product details:
MTX Series matrix processors
The series is comprised of two models with varying DSP capacities and expansion capabilities; the MTX3 and the MTX5-D. The accompanying MTX Editor software manages the setup of the entire sound solution using an intuitive interface that mirrors the actual workflow of every stage of system design, from product selection to system configuration. MTX processors come equipped with a variety of programmable features designed to maximize the performance of sound systems in commercial installations such as Feedback Suppressor, Auto Gain Control, Priority Ducker, and Ambient Noise Compensator, as well as Reverb and Echo effect processors. MTX processors also feature the newly developed YDIF digital transmission format that delivers 16ch audio and word clock transmission via standard CAT5 Ethernet cable, as well as an SD Card Slot for playback of MP3/WAV files stored on an SD Memory Card. MTX5-D processors come equipped with an on-board Dante network port and MY card slot for additional expandability and functionality in larger installation applications.
Offering more flexibility, DCP controllers provide external control of several functions such as preset recall, levels, and SD card playback, while iPhone or iPod touch users can download the newly developed Wireless DCP app, offering remote control via the intuitive operation of either Apple device. Also available are EXi8 input expanders and EXi8 output expanders that can be controlled remotely from an MTX processor via YDIF using standard Ethernet cable.
XMV Power Amplifiers
XMV multi-channel power amplifiers combine Class-D efficiency with features designed specifically to benefit commercial installation sound systems. The Series is comprised of four different models with varying output power capabilities and flexible in/out connectivity to accommodate a wide range of installation environments. Extremely versatile, XMV power amplifiers can operate in both high-impedance (100V/70V line) or low-impedance (8Ω/4Ω) modes simultaneously by simply selecting the preferred mode using the dip switches on the rear panel. The newly developed Double Power Mode function doubles the output power of selected channels in order to drive speakers with higher output power. Additionally, a new, patent pending circuit brings the efficiency level of the amplifier's output stage up to over 90% by switching the circuit to match the corresponding output voltage.
VXS Series Surface Mount Speakers / VXC Series Ceiling Speakers
Both series feature newly customized transducers with large, powerful magnetic circuits that increase driving and braking force substantially, as well as dedicated tweeter diaphragms and speaker cone paper made from a carefully-created blend of materials that help optimize sound reproduction. Cabinets are built to meet the demands of a wide variety of commercial environments, constructed from high-quality plastic with ideal tensile strength, and designed with optimized bass-reflex tuning to offer a firm, tight low-end.
Additionally, each model has an internal transformer that allows both high and low-impedance drive with just a single speaker*, selectable by simply switching the designated tap. Both Series’ speakers are available in either black or white, and can be painted to match any interior if required.
*except for VXS10S(W) and VXS10ST(W)
The VXC Series comes in three different woofer sizes, offering the flexibility required to meet a range of needs and allowing system configurations to be tailored to specific applications. Moreover, they feature a built-in Anti-Drop tab that allows them to be mounted temporarily in the ceiling for improved safety and ease of installation, as well as a flexible carrying band that makes it easy to carry multiple speakers at once.
The VXS Series features two IP45-rated full-range models for both indoor and outdoor applications, and two subwoofers intended for use in sound systems that require a well-defined bass. Equipped with a dedicated bracket for safe, trouble-free speaker installation, VXS full-range models can be mounted temporarily, freeing your hands to adjust mounting angles. Subwoofers also feature brackets for fast and easy mounting.
